Why won't my Windows Media encoder stay connected?

Does your encoder continuely drop its connection to our server? If so, there are two possible reasons for this: the unstable Push publishing method or a drop in the network between our servers and your encoding computer.

The Push publishing method for Windows Media Encoder is unreliable. We strongly recommend publishing with the Pull method. It requires some additional configuration of your computer and network, but it's well worth the effort. For more information about configuring the Pull publishing method, visit our Knowledgebase category titled, "Pull Method Checklist."

If you are already publishing with the Pull method, the drop in connection is mostly likely due to a drop in the network between our servers and your encoding computer. To diagnose your network health, visit our Knowledgebase article titled, "The Encoder is Buffering or Losing Connection."
