Solution A Quicktime playlist is a handy tool to force content open in Quicktime Player. You might use a Quicktime playlist if you'd like to give your audience the option of opening your mp3 stream within Quicktime. Also, a Quicktime playlist will make it easier for your audience to open rtsp: content, as many web browsers do not know how to handle this protocol. The steps to create a Quicktime playlist are basically the same as as a Quicktime reference movie - a Quicktime playlist with a .qtl extension will only play in Quicktime Player, where as a reference movie with a .mov extension will allow the movie to display embed within a web page or within the browser window.

If you have Quicktime Pro, follow these instructions:

You can access the media link exporter by choosing Export from the File menu in QuickTime Player, then choosing Movie to QuickTime Media Link. You can either click Save, which creates an XML file with the default settings, or click the Options button to specify the settings yourself. (Note that Export from QuickTime Player requires QuickTime Pro.)

If you do not have Quicktime Pro, you can modify the code below as needed. Save it into a text file with a .qtl extension and link to it from your website. Your website will need to have the .qtl mime type configured.
